Cool! I like the accented thin-line highlights in the art, it reminds me of the work by Zoe Persico. The layer blending is cool and gives it some nice texture, but is is to consistent throughout the foreground and background. To fix this you can make a mask on top of the texture blending layer and gradient it to exclude the far plane of the background to to sell it as being more distant. Also the lights on the axe are to selective of the area the affect, you should use a larger brush for those and separate the hard light from the softer light to prevent it from looking muddy.

Lastly if this is for the COTM you should fix the tags, you need to enter the tag legendaryaxe to be included in the competition

thank you for your feedback friend!! also i thought i did but ive never used newgrounds until now :/// idk anything so how do i do tags, also i wont edit this piece now, ill take your advice for future artworks thanks again :)

I really like this, but that outcrop on the right leg cuts into my very soul

grillhou5e responds:

Im actually glad you brought my attention to the legs. Because I just noticed that on the bottom of the left leg there's a black outline and on the right there isn't... they're supposed to have no lines.... Don't worry everyone I am a professional!

I like the shapes of the characters, not enough people deviate from the standard tall and thin designs, so this feels fresh

Cypu responds:

Thanks for your opinion :D nice to hear that

This is great, love the colors here, it gives a real Jorge Gutierrez vibe, but it is very much its own thing. Keep up the good work

The only gripe I have here is that the inside of the shark's mouth has that solid black shadow, which you would never really see. Despite that I understand the stylistic choice, and that this is a dream, and a personal gripe does not give me the right to give you a bad review. Excellent work

Waveloop responds:

\hey thanks for the critique... I feel you. It was considered. But after looking at reference sharks inside of the mouth does get pretty pitch black. Although that is not solid black it's about a 80% K (black)... it gives that impression cuz all the values are quite light overall. But in favor of your argument I guess I did have atmospheric perspective with lighter blue values values on the inside of the mouth. But as an after thought I decided almost pitch black adds to the creepy factor.
It was considered though. But if you look through reference you'll see it gets really black in there specially in really deep water, and the mouth facing the Ocean bed like that. I did exaggerated it a bit. Was a conscious decision though. Maybe I'll give it a second thought
